New Software - How to install the new software

 

Note: This process may take up to 30 minutes to complete

PC Updater app

This app allows backing up of tracks and waypoints, removes unnecessary files and installs new software. (Your backup data will be able to be used at a later date)

 

Please Note: If you're loading this software on a HX-2 model and the last 5 digits of your serial number ends in 11059 or lower, you will need to reach out to tech support for further assistance.

Your serial number can be located on the back on the unit.

Requirements to use the app:

  • Java (Please download and install Java from this link — the install instructions are found on the same page)
  • Windows PC with internet (Only tested on Windows 10)
  • USB debugging enabled (Instructions for this can be found in the program, and here)

HX-Upgrade Program:

When ready please download the below file.

 


Instructions

  1. Download and extract the file linked above. Right click on the downloaded file and click on ‘Extract all’. Connect your HX-2 or HX-2+ to your computer with a USB cable.

  2. Run ‘HXUpgrade.exe’, or ‘HXUpgrade’ if your computer does not show file extensions. This is located inside the folder starting with HXUpgrade, for example, HXUpgrade_v0.5.3.1.

  3. If you get the ‘Windows protected your PC’ message, click on ‘More info’ and press ‘Run anyway’.

  4. This should open up the HXUpgrade page.

How to enable developer mode + USB debugging

The below instructions are also covered in the HXUpgrade program. They are shown below as a reference. Please follow the latest instructions on your HX-2 or HX-2+.

On your HX-2 or HX-2+ head to ‘System Settings’.

Then tap on ‘About Tablet’.

And tap on ‘Build number’ 7 times, really quickly.

This will prompt you to put in the developer pin — 633415.

kb14Once entered tap on the arrow key on the bottom right.

 

If successful, there will be a pop-up message below, advising you're in developer mode.

From here you'll then need to head back once and hit ‘System’.

Then tap on ‘Developer options’. (You may need to tap on ‘Advanced’ first if it's hidden.)

Scroll down and turn on ‘USB debugging’.

A pop-up message may come up saying, ‘Always all from this computer’. Make sure you tick the check box and press ‘OK’.

You are now ready to connect the unit to a computer.
