Vehicle Cigarette Lighter Socket Failure

Rust, dirt or ash covering the positive contact.

Not making proper contact

Negative contacts on the plug aligned with the holes in the socket.  

Mounting loose/failed

No earth (Ground) connected to socket and relying on the sleeve contacting the vehicle body(GND).
