HX-BOX Android Auto Mode

If you have connected the HX-BOX to your head unit and there is no response on the screen (and you see a flashing green LED on the HX-BOX), your head unit may be compatible only with Wired Android Auto and not Wired Car Play.

Known examples of Wired Android Auto only compatible head units:
- Aerpro AMUTO53
- 2026 Subaru Outback/Forrester factory head unit

Note - this is referring to the HX-BOX to head unit connection via a USB cable, not the phone to HX-BOX wireless connection.

It is possible to manually switch the HX-BOX into Android Auto Mode by the following process:

turn on the vehicle and plug in the HX-BOX via USB cable to head unit
the HX-BOX should flash the green LED light and go solid after 10-15sec if a connection is successful
if no connection happens (nothing appears on screen/LED keeps flashing green), try the following steps
after a few minutes, use a pin or paperclip to push a small microswitch where the LED is on the HX-BOX and hold it down for 3 seconds, then release. You should feel a small click when pushing the LED in
you may need to do this more than once, however at some point the LED will go off and then turn blue as opposed to green
once the LED is blue, wait to see if the head unit then recognises anything (or unplug and re-plug in the HX-BOX)
