Compass not working on your device?

Sometimes, the compass does not seem to respond as you would expect it to on your phone or tablet (also, remember that some devices do not even have an in-built compass sensor).

A device may prompt you to re-calibrate the compass itself, if it detects that this is required. It is wise to perform a compass calibration if you are prompted to do so by the device.

We have had reports of some phone and tablet cases with a magnetic catch, where the magnet has interfered with the normal operation of the compass on the device within.

Some vehicle device mounts include a cordless charging mechanism, which uses induction technology. This technology produces a magnetic field by it's nature, and this can also cause interference with the device's internal compass sensor.
