Sometimes, the compass does not seem to respond as you would expect it to on your phone or tablet (also, remember that some devices do not even have an in-built compass sensor). A device may prompt you to re-calibrate the compass itself, if it detects that this is required. It is wise to perform a compass calibration if you are prompted to do so by the device. We have had reports of some phone and tablet cases with a magnetic catch, where the magnet has interfered with the normal operation of the compass on the device within. Some vehicle device mounts include a cordless charging mechanism, which uses induction technology.
