How to Purchase and Download Hema's Maps for 4WD Maps 

A guide to purchasing, downloading, and managing your optional 4WD Maps on compatible Hema Navigators

Background

Hema 4WD Maps is powered by Memory-Map, a third-party mapping platform that Hema Maps has partnered with to deliver its digitised paper map content.

  • A customised version of Memory-Map for All is included with the following Hema Maps Navigators:
    • HX-2, HX-2+, and AMHXD-3 (via Hema Nav Software)
    • HX-Box, HR-1, Alpine Z6, Alpine Z8, and Alpine Navistick
  • Memory-Map operates as a completely separate application and account system to Hema's own platform.
  • Access to Hema's collection of digitised print maps inside the 4WD Maps app is an optional purchase of $99.99.
    • A 1-year complimentary access period was provided for early Hema Nav adopters. This is no longer available for new users and cannot be reinstated for elapsed subscriptions. 
    • This is optional because the maps available in Hema Nav cover the same regions as the 4WD Maps library and already contain 4WD-relevant information, including 4WD tracks, difficulty classifications, private and MVO roads, contour lines, and river crossings.
    • The 4WD Maps package was last updated in 2022. Individual maps and layers within the package may have been published prior to this date.

Instructions

Complete these steps on your personal phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

  1. Visit the Memory-Map store using the following link.
  2. Press the Buy Now button next to Hema 4WD Maps 2022.
  3. Create a new Memory-Map account or sign in to an existing one. Please note this is separate from any Hema account you may have used previously — you will not be able to log in with those details.
  4. Fill out the payment form and select Buy for Yourself.
  5. Press "Continue..." to submit the purchase.

Note: Memory-Map is based in the United States of America. Depending on your bank, you may be required to verify the payment.

Once your purchase is complete, follow these steps on your HX-2 or HX-2+ Navigator.

  1. From the home screen, open the Hema 4WD Maps app.
  2. On the map screen, tap the Maps button in the lower left corner. If it is not visible, tap the screen to reveal it, as buttons automatically hide after a few seconds of inactivity. If it still does not appear, tap the left or right page buttons on the sides of the screen to return to the map page.
  3. Tap My Online Maps, then tap Everywhere at the top of the screen.
  4. Sign in with the same Memory-Map account you used before, if prompted.
  5. The Hema 4WD Maps package will appear in the list. You may need to tap the triangles on the left to expand the categories.
  6. Tap the map you wish to download and follow the on-screen prompts.

Note: The Hema 4WD Maps Package 2022 is approximately 2.8GB and may take around 15 minutes to download on a broadband connection. We recommend downloading over Wi-Fi before your trip.
