Hema Explorer [Subscriptions] - How do I download Hema Explorer at high zoom levels?

Downloading the Hema Explorer map at the higher zoom levels available in the subscription

When you download the Hema Explorer map layer by Australian state, the downloads only contain up to zoom level 12.

It is not possible to offer full state downloads at the highest zoom settings (around 1:9000) as the downloads are enormous!

If you want to access right up to ZL 16 when offline, you need to download specific areas at the higher zoom level while you have an internet connection (ie. before leaving on your trip).

Layers button

Tap on the Layers button; the Layers panel will appear.

Layers panel

Download Map Section button

Tap on the Download Map Section button

Download Maps prompt

Tap Other Layers

Layers prompt

Make sure that the Hema Explorer Map layer is ticked.

You will now see a preview screen, showing a drag box with corner handles to select the area, and a slider to choose the maximum zoom level you want to download.

Warning!

Do NOT try to download a whole state at zoom level 16 - you will not be able to do this. The amount of data required for download and storage is HUGE!

Remember, for every zoom level you increase, the amount of data quadruples.

Selecting and Saving Your Map Layer Area

Drag the selector box by the handles (1) to select the area required

Choose your max zoom level (up to ZL 16 for subscribers) (2)

If the Number of tiles and size label at top-left (3) goes RED, that means one of two things:

1. You do not have enough room on your device to download this

2. The size of the download exceeds the max allowable of around 2Gb per download.

Tap the Save button (4)

Naming Downloaded map

Then, if you wish, you can give your downloaded map section a name (1), and add notes (2), then tap the save button.
