If you want to transfer waypoints or other data from the Hema 4WD maps app into hema Explorer, here's how to go about it.

Note

The Hema 4WD Maps app refers to waypoints as marks, but they are one and the same thing, just different terminology.

You need to save the data from the Hema 4WD maps app, and email the resulting saved file to yourself. You will need to make sure you have an email account configured on your iOS device for this to work. If you do not know how to configure an email account on your device, please search using Google.

There are other ways to get the data as well (see This Article), but in this example, we'll stick the email method, as it is simple and it works.

Flip Page button

From the main map page of the Hema 4WD maps app on your iOS device, go to the flipside page by tapping the Flip Page button.

Marks List button

Tap the Marks Folder button to open the Marks list. The Marks list will show you all the marks / waypoints which you have in the 4WD Maps app on your device.

Marks list

Marks list Menu button

Tap the Menu button in the upper-right corner of the screen. The Marks list menu will appear.

Marks list Menu

From the menu, tap the Save/Email marks option.

Save File panel

A screen will open, allowing you to type a name for the file to save your marks in. Enter a name for the file using the on-screen keyboard, or leave the default "File name".

(You may see other files listed here, if you have previously saved data in this way).

Send Email Attachment button

Tap the Send Email Attachment button.

Send email attachment

You will see a screen with your saved file as an attachment (as shown at 1 above). You should send the file to the account which you use to read emails on your iPad. This sounds a bit confusing, but all you are doing here is sending yourself an email with the file attached. This will become clear in the next few steps.

Email Send button

Enter a valid email address in the To: field at the top of the screen, then tap the Send button.

Open your email on the device, you should see an attachment icon in the email which you sent earlier.

Received email with attachment

Tap-and-hold on the attached file icon (as shown at 1 above).

Choosing which app to load the attachment with

You will see a panel which allows you to select which app on your device to open the file with. Select the Hema Explorer app by tapping the Open in Explorer button.

All Imports Complete message

Hema Explorer will then import whatever data it finds within the attached file, then briefly display a message indicating that the import has been completed. The more data contained in your attachment, the longer it will take to import. Most imports are very quick, however...

Imported Waypoints

Open the My Data panel from the left side pull-out panel, and choose Waypoints from the My Data menu at upper-left of the panel. You should see your imported waypoints listed.
